Content is King

Most businesses have websites that they build themselves or hire someone else to build for them. However, once the site is finished, most simply leave the site and in essence forget it even exists. This is a huge mistake! You’d literally be leaving money on the table by doing this.

Most people know that getting your website to rank “better” in search engines is important. Unfortunately you can’t simply buy your way to the top of Google and it’s certainly not something that will happen overnight. It takes time, effort and some consistency on your part – but it will pay off big time in the long run.

One of the most effective things you can do to help make your site rank better in search engines is to regularly write quality content for your site – usually via a blogging platform built into your site. By quality content, we don’t mean a short little blurb about the services you offer or a “happy holidays” article. No, instead we suggest content that is useful for the reader and potential customer. For example, a tutorial on how or why your customers should use your services or tips for things they can do to make your services that much better or more effective.

Why is quality so important? There are a few reasons. First off, if it’s a quality article, other websites may link to the article and share it among their followers. This will help bump up your “domain authority” which is one of the key factors Google and other search engines now use to rank your website in search engines. Generally a quality article is 2000+ words in length, includes various links and even relevant videos (even if they aren’t your videos, embed them from YouTube) that help a potential customer understand things better. Also, a good quality article naturally adds more keywords to your site (which again helps search engines) and people who read your article will view you as an authority on the subject. In other words, they will want to do business with you since it’s obvious you know what you’re talking about.

Don’t be overwhelmed by this. You don’t need to make every article over 2000 words in length but ideally you should have a few articles like this that are detailed and useful to the reader. If you do this, you will likely be light years ahead of your competition and eventually become the number 1 ranked site in your business niche.
